We sure do!

Spend the month leading up to this visit immersing your students in the author’s books!  Think of this visit like a field trip – talk it up!  The more excited you are, the more excited and engaged your students will be!

  • Read the author’s books.  Discuss them with your students and have your students think up questions (not statements 🙂) to ask the author during their visit
  • Read a few paragraphs of author’s book during your morning announcements
  • Share the author’s bio and website with your students
  • Choose students to participate in a small session workshop based on reading and reviewing the author’s books
  • Put the author’s books on display in the school library
  • Create a bulletin board in a main hallway dedicated to the author and their work
  • Have a school newspaper?  Arrange for students to interview the author during a short break in the day
  • Have an art class make posters and banners welcoming them
  • Share book order form or order link at least 3 weeks in advance of their visit
  • Review assembly expectations
