“Natalia’s visit to our class was illuminating, insightful, and most of all generous. [She] is a luminous presence and a masterful practitioner. Her visit made me believe in everything writing can do.” — Dennis Sweeney, lecturer, Amherst College

Natalia Sylvester (nataliasylvester.com) is the author of the Pura Belpré- and Schneider Family-honor YA novel BREATHE AND COUNT BACK FROM TEN and RUNNING. Born in Lima, Peru, Natalia came to the US at age four and grew up in Florida and the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. She writes stories about Latinx characters in all their joy, nuance, and wholeness. During presentations, she especially enjoys sharing how growing up as a disabled Latina immigrant made her a reader, which made her a writer. She lives in South Florida.
