Sahar’s presentation is full of beautiful examples and interactive exercises to build a child’s emotional intelligence and get them talking about their feelings. Sahar isn’t just a talented and successful artist, animator, illustrator, and writer; she exemplifies the kindness and grit we want all our kids to emulate. – Kaz Windness, Art Professor and Award-Winning Children’s Book Author/Illustrator

Sahar Shams (she/her) (www.saharbooks.com) is an award-winning author and illustrator with an MFA from Academy of Art University. Other than her love for sunlight and a good coffee, her heart has always been set on helping kids find their inner strength through stories. Her journey has taken her from working with ed-tech giants like ABCmouse and Adventure Academy to creating educational animations and writing for books and magazines—all with the goal of helping young minds thrive. When she moved to the U.S. ten years ago from Iran, she brought that passion along and founded The Little Soul, an NGO dedicated to empowering Iranian kids. One of her most impactful projects was Michka, an app in Iran that helped young victims of abuse to open up and seek support. Michka has been featured in over a dozen media outlets for its positive impact. Now, she is working on two picture books with Penguin Random House, continuing her passion for teaching social-emotional learning through engaging and fun stories for kids.
