Paola Santos (she/her) (paolasantos.com) is the author of How To Eat a Mango and Cómo se come un mango, which received starred reviews from School Library Journal, Kirkus, Publishers Weekly, and BookPage, and have been listed as Bank Street of Education Best Children’s Books of 2025 (English and Spanish editions), Chicago Public Library Best Picture Books of 2024, and New York Public Library Best Children’s Books in Spanish of 2024. Her upcoming picture book, A House in My Barrio (Henry Holt BYR/Macmillan), illustrated by Olivia Sua, will be released on September 1, 2026.
Paola grew up in Venezuela, in a place known as “La tierra del sol amada” (The Land Beloved by the Sun). She finds joy in weaving deep emotions into her stories and describes herself as a curious seeker who sees the world with childlike wonder. Paola holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Literature and Children’s Literature and Reading Promotion.
When not writing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, creating memories, and celebrating their culture. She lives in Edmonton, Canada.
