Roxie Munro (she/her) (www.roxiemunro.com) is the author/illustrator of more than 55 nonfiction, STEM/STEAM, and concept books for children, many using interactivity and “gamification” to encourage reading, learning, and engagement. Awards include the New York Times Best Illustrated, Smithsonian’s Best Children’s Science Book, Outstanding Science Trade Book, NSTA & CBC; Society of International Librarians Honor Award; Bank St College Best Book Lists, Bank St Cook STEM Prize Honor, and starred reviews in SLJ, Horn Book, BookList, PW, and Kirkus. Her books have been translated into French, Italian, Dutch, Chinese, and Japanese.

She was born in Texas, and grew up in southern Maryland. At age six, she won first prize in a county-wide contest for a painting of a bowl of fruit. She’s been a working artist all her life, including as a television courtroom artist in Washington DC. Fourteen of her paintings have been published as “New Yorker” magazine covers. Roxie’s work is in numerous private, public, and university collections, including the Eric Carle Museum (MA), NCCL (TX), NYPL (NY), Mazza Museum (Ohio), de Grummond Collection (Southern Miss), Kerlan Collection (Univ of Minnesota), Zimmerli Museum (Rutgers, NJ), others.
