Marissa Macy (she/her) (https://www.marissamacy.com/) is the author of Spells to Mend Broken Hearts (Scholastic, 2026). She is passionate about queer representation in children’s media and writing in the middle-grade/YA crossover space. In addition to her writing, Marissa has over a decade of experience as an indie filmmaker and improviser. So whether it’s on the page, in her films, or on stage, she’s all about creating complex characters and making people of all ages laugh. When she’s not working on her next project, Marissa is playing pretend with her long-time nanny kid or recommending movies at We Luv Video, a non-profit video rental store where she helps manage day to day operations.
