“I never remember anything that the authors say at these talks, but I’m going to remember what [Aimee] said today.”

Aimee Lucido (she/her) (www.aimeelucido.com) is an author and crossword puzzle maker living in Irvington, New York. She is the award-winning author of middle grade novels in verse that show that anything can be poetry: Emmy in the Key of Code, Recipe for Disaster, and Words Apart. She is also the author of the read-aloud picture book Pasta Pasta Lotsa Pasta and the chapter book Lucky Penny. When she’s not writing books, Aimee writes and edits trivia and crossword puzzles. Her work can be found in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Scientific American, AVCX, Bloomberg, and many others publications.
During school visits, Aimee talks about her circuitous path towards her curious career and how you never have to be just one thing “when you grow up.” As a former software engineer, she incorporates basic coding concepts into her presentations, and as a crossword maker she can teach kids (and adults!) the basics of how to build a crossword puzzle. Her presentations are fun, engaging, inspiring, and interactive.
Aimee is available for in-person and virtual visits for pre-k through middle school, with custom presentations available for older readers and educators (How to Make a Crossword Puzzle, Anything Can Be Poetry).
