Lalena Fisher

Lalena Fisher’s (she/her) (www.lalenalab.com) picture book Friends Beyond Measure: A Story Told with Infographics was named a “Best Book of 2023” by Kirkus, the Chicago Public Library and The Horn Book; and is on the 2024-2025 state reading lists for Texas, California and Washington. It also won the Mathical Books Prize. Friends Beyond Measure melds social-emotional learning with STEM. In the story, Ana draws colorful charts and maps to help work through her feelings, making the book “a double-whammy for classroom use,” as the Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books put it. Lalena draws and writes in her backyard studio in Austin, Texas. After earning her MFA in New York, she created designs for the kids’ animated TV shows Blue’s Clues and The Wonder Pets, as well as information graphics for The New York Times. Lalena loves to read and draw with kids! And she can present in Spanish if desired.
