Marie Boyd (she/her) (www.marieboyd.com) is a writer, illustrator, artist, educator, and scholar who brings stories to life through bold, vibrant quilled paper art. She cuts colorful paper into thin strips and coils them into striking, modern images that literally come off the page.

Just a Worm is a terrific choice for classrooms where the concepts of nature and the natural world are introduced, as well as for teaching social skills such as collaboration and empathy. Just a Worm is a South Carolina Association of School Librarians 2025–2026 Picture Book Award nominee.

Marie holds a degree in Chemistry from Harvard and a law degree from Yale. She is a law professor whose research focuses on the regulation of products by Food and Drug Administration. A passionate nature lover, Marie finds inspiration in the colors and patterns of the natural world. Originally from Salt Lake City, she lives in Columbia, South Carolina with her husband and their two kids.
