“An engaging, easy-to-follow, and ultimately affirming work sure to leave readers smiling. Sweet and empowering.” -Kirkus Reviews

Gabriela Orozco Belt (she/her) (https://gabrielabelt.com/) is a children’s book author who lives in a small town in the Mojave Desert. Inspired by her experiences of growing up bilingual and bicultural, she writes stories for children so they can see themselves in books.

Her stories, which celebrate cultural traditions, explore bilingualism, and celebrate the joys of being bicultural include the award-winning Only for a Little While and I Am, Yo Soy.

Gabriela received a B.A. in English Literature from California State University, San Bernardino and an M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of California at Riverside. She has taught high school English for twenty years.

She is a member of Las Musas and is the social media coordinator for the LKBF’s Latinx Storytellers Conference. When not teaching, writing, or reading, she can be found spending time with her husband, three children, extended family, and one always hungry mini-golden doodle named Eustace.

Gabriela can present in English & Spanish.
